wedding wednesday

Today's post is short and sweet. I discovered these pictures in my wedding album this afternoon and couldn't believe I never noticed what a sweet moment they were. Of course Taylor and I were thrilled to finally see each other on our big day, but I love how happy my dad looks too! Doesn't every girl want their papa to be proud and supportive of their choice in partner? This photo gives me that assurance. And that's all I've got to say about that.

The Oscars

My friend Lauren and I decided to host an Oscar's party for some gals and kept Sunday night classy with hors d'oeuvre, champagne, and cocktail attire. It was the perfect excuse to host a party and watch the stars take the red carpet!

I'll take any excuse to dress up and eat tasty snacks so I was glad that the other girls got into it too! The spread was delicious - including roasted tomato crostinis made by Lauren, stuffed dates from Candice, baked brie made by Carol Anne, and baked gruyuere with caramelized onions and bacon from yours truly.

Before watching the awards, we filled out predictions and then played a fun bingo game as the show went on. Of course we were all in awe of the fashion, humor, and speeches.

It was a great night to spend with friends and cheers to Jennifer Lawrence on the best dress and acceptance speech!

sweet & healing

Today has started off strong with only a slight delay when my dog escaped our backyard...I'm hoping my attempts at catching him entertained our neighbors at the least. Last week consisted of highs and lows - good news (like booking my first wedding client!) and bad news (like my Granny's husband passing away), but God is steady and constant. The quote above comes from Proverbs 16:24 and I am a deep believer in its truth, especially at the start of the week.

If gracious words sweet and healing, how damaging must ungracious words be. Of course we all know that being snarky or rude can hurt others, but I want to think deeper about how it affects someone's heart, mind and health when I am careless with words.

My question to myself (and you!) is how will I bring healing to others this week through gracious words? Although texts are easy and convenient, I want to share more- in person- why I appreciate someone and who they are. Hope y'all have a great Monday!

fashionably late...ly

One of aspects of having a personal blog I like most is the freedom to write about any gosh darn thing I want! When I started Young Love in Normaltown, I just wanted an outlet for creativity and not be confined to just one topic. From work, to food, to love, to fashion, I love sharing snippets of newlywed life in a Southern college town.

With that being said, here are some shameless selfies of recent outfits that I have been pleased with :) Notice that each outfit tells a story of how temperamental the weather has been in Georgia!

// Madewell scarf, H&M jacket, Forever 21 jeans, Charlotte Russe booties //

// LEFT: H&M sweater and button down, Target leggings, Gap wool socks, Target boots. RIGHT: Ann Taylor jacket, Old Navy top, Gap jeans, H&M flats //

P.S. A little project is in the works with one of my bests to feature more fashion so stay tuned!

wedding wednesday

I am so excited to finally share some personal news in the job department (and I promise it relates to weddings :) After months of prayer, consideration and wisdom seeking, I decided to step away from my first "real world" job and accept a position with Chancey Charm Weddings!

Started by Sarah Chancey, CC is a southern wedding planning company that creates customized designs for clients to feel a true vision for their big day. Working with a unique team of talented women has always been a desire and passion of mine and I am so thrilled for this new adventure.

Although leaving the structured 9 to 5 schedule has left me feeling a little anxious about my time and productivity, I am loving the freedom of creating my schedule, setting meetings, and enjoying wife-hood. Working from home is definitely requiring the best of my self control and discipline. Do any of you work from home? I would love to hear how you set your schedules and if you have any tips for being disciplined!

Thanks for letting me share about my current career changes. I hope to use Wedding Wednesday as a way to share about my own clients in the near future too!

xoxo

P.S. you can see my bio here :)

taste buds

How was everyone's Valentine's Day? I hope y'all had a great time celebrating love or being spoiled by your significant other. A couple weeks ago I was inspired to whip up a batch of chocolate souffles simply because I wanted to put my little ramekins to use and get better at baking.
